Room in Altbauwohnung in Berlin for sublet, 4 months from June, 500€/month

FROM JUNE 2024, for 4+ months: Furnished room to sublet in a large, handsome Altbauwohnung in Kreuzberg.  The apartment is 84 square metres, up 1.5 flights of stairs (European first floor), in a small street between  Yorckschlößchen jazz café and the Park am Gleisdreick. It has the typical Altbau plaster mouldings, wooden floors in parkett, and ceilings about 3.5 metres high. There is a washing machine, a dishwasher, and wifi (the DSL package includes a landline, so there’s always a phone if your cellphone needs charging).

There is easy access to public transportation (Mehringdamm U-Bahn (U6, U7) and Möckernbrücke U-Bahn (U1, U7) are both about a 5-minute walk away.  The Staatsbibliothek and Kulturforum near Potsdamerplatz are maybe 10 minutes by bike (I have a spare bike available if one is wanted). There are two small grocery stores across the intersection of the nearest corner; an Aldi and a Lidl are maybe 10 minutes on foot; there’s a big produce market on Wednesdays and Saturdays in Crellestraße, 5 minutes by bike, 3 bus stops away.  The Bergmannkiez, with many restaurants, cafés, and shops, is about 10 minutes away.

I am hoping to spend the months of June to September in Vermont, so though I would officially be subletting one room you would have the whole apartment to yourself while I am away.  If for some reason it’s more convenient to come earlier that is also possible.  I wasn’t planning on a long-term sublet, but it’s not out of the question.

The rent is 500€/month including bills (electricity, gas, DSL, compulsory TV license, building charges, and so on).

Please note: It’s unfortunately not possible to use the second room for a roommate or to rent out on Airbnb while I’m away. The landlord is very strict about this, and any kind of unauthorized rental would entitle them to initiate eviction.

In the past I have sublet the smaller room (shown above), which has a futon, wardrobe, bookshelves, desk and piano. While I’m away you would be welcome to use the larger room (double bed, extendable dining table, bookshelves), which might be more comfortable than sleeping on the futon.
